Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC)

The Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) was established in 2002, by Fresno City Council and is comprised of concerned community members with interest and expertise in bicycle and pedestrian issues. BPAC meets monthly at City Hall, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Members of BPAC work closely with staff members of the Public Work Department along with other departments as needed toward making Fresno a more cyclist and pedestrian friendly community.

BPAC provides cycling experience, advocacy, and advice to City Departments to improve the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Fresno. BPAC encourages the City to install new bicycle facilities for both recreational trips and commuter uses such as trails and bike lanes in critical areas of the City to establish a comprehensive system/network of accessibility. The BPAC also encourages departments to ensure that end-of-trip facilities, such as safe and secure bike racks, are available.

BPAC committee members were instrumental in the preparation of the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Master Plan (BMP) which was adopted by the City Council in 2010. The BMP is a comprehensive plan that looks at enhancing the vision and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
